As part of National Community Policing Week 2016, the Yarmouth Police Department has partnered with the Yarmouth Division of Animal Care and Protection, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and Yarmouth Neighborhood Crime Watch, to announce the new Yarmouth Police Dog Walkers Crime Watch program.

There are dozens, if not hundreds of dog walkers throughout the community at all times of the day, all days of the week, in all weather conditions, walking their beloved pets.  Dog Walkers Watch trains these individuals how to effectively observe and report suspicious activity.

Dog Walkers Crime Watch is a fantastic community policing program that requires no commitment beyond an individual’s regular routine and helps us all keep our neighbors and our community safer.  Training programs are held periodically and are free.  Bring your dog to one of our training sessions and you will receive a Yarmouth Dog Walkers Crime Watch blue bandanna.

The program is coordinated by Patrol Officer Mary Gibney and Deputy Chief Kevin Lennon
